Mocha myrtle

I love seeing this Crepe myrtle every time I enter or leave BBG. It's located at the 1000 Washington entrance on your right as you walk up the stairs.

Peonies in evening 5/26

I wonder if they will still be there for this Wednesday's evening class. If not, I'm sure there will be something else fantastic to see. I like getting a chance to walk the grounds in the evening, exhausted as I may be. The light is so beautiful then and the garden is quiet.

Geranium macrorrhizum

The remains of inflorescence and growing near Billy's apt at Teatown. Leaves are maroon-red in fall.

Crepe-Myrtle (Lagerstroemia)

Small trees/shrubs for bark lovers. They are common in warmer zones like the southeast in the US. The first pic is from the Perennial border/lily pool area at BBG. Second two are near the lilacs and overlook. I've yet to get a picture of the mocha-colored one in front of 1000 Washington, which might be my favorite. They flower too.

American holly (Ilex opaca)

Growing wild in New Jersey. An understory native with cool bark. It's not just the berries that make this tree beautiful.
