A Bloom and A Bug
The bloom I at least know is on an apple tree that just started blooming at the community garden. I've seen the apples, so no mystery there unless someone wanted to know what kind of apple tree exactly and then I'd be as clueless as I am about the bug. A pupa of some sort unearthed from its home in my community garden plot when digging to plant potatoes is about as much as I know. Technically moths and their pupae aren't true bugs, but since my nephew likes bugs, that's the title I'm going with. There may be a day when he can tell me what distinguishing features to look for when id'ing pupa like this in the soil in spring. He'll be happy to know that bug discovery season in the garden has begun anyway.
