What you need is a nephew with very quick hands and an interest in insects. The pictures are bad, but the day was good and I don't think I've ever seen that squash vine borer above actually flying around in my garden before, even though every year it always manages to kill my zuchinni. I told my nephew that my garden would not disappoint for bughunting, but I had no idea that he was going to be doing me such a big favor. The cucumbers and zuchinni just might have a chance this year thanks to him.

How is he with mosquitoes? I can't even step outside unless I want to look like I have chicken pox.
Sounds like teamwork!
Amelia--don't know about mosquitoes, but he has gotten in trouble this trip because he keeps catching wasps. Jen-perfect kind of teamwork..he does all the heavy lifting:)
Now all you need is a big fat toad for your garden--chickens are wonderful but a bit of work :)
Your nephew is a gem for you and your garden! Hopefully your crops will remain untouched this summer! How are you coping with the heat? I have been reading how hot it is over there, we are all fed up with the amount of rain we are getting here in England!
Anne- he is a gem and if the zuchinni survives it will be because of him. I haven't the energy to be looking for eggs right now. Just trying to stay still and keep cool. Hope your garden is good and green with all the rain. Terri-toads always welcome. Chicken poop too, but not the chickens themselves:)
