Signs of New Life

Rhododendron buds and curling leaves in winter cold

Despite the bitter cold which is causing the Rhodendron leaves above to curl in defense right now, signs of new life abound this winter in New York City. Beneath the snowcap, new buds await warmer temperatures. Even through these coldest of days and nights, new life is emerging.

Hi Karen,

I'm writing to request your permission to use your snow-capped rhododendron photo in an article I'm writing at HubPages.com on rhododendron leaves in winter. Your photo is perfect for my purposes. I would caption your photo with a link to the "Signs of New Life" post and credit you with the photo.

I write on food, gardening, social issues, and other topics. To get an idea of how your photo would be featured in my article, and how it would be cited, please visit http://sallystrove.hubpages.com/_fromblogs/hub/10-Ways-To-Use-Rutabagas-without-Eating-Them

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Sherri Hubbell

Hi Sherri, My apologies. I just called you Sally on your hub page. Best of luck with your writing, but I am not giving permission for the use of my picture. I see that when the picture is clicked, it doesn't actually link to my site, although it is credited below and I'm not sure that would provide any real benefit to me. Thanks for offering though.

Hi Karen...I removed your photo, as you requested.

Karen, this morning I requested that HP remove the image from their server. Apparently my deleting the image from my account did not automatically take it off their server.

I'm sure there will be a lag but I don't know how long. I'll be watching for the image to be removed and will be in touch with you.

Best regards,
Sherri

Thanks Sherri. Best of luck with your writing and your work. It seems that your hubs are successful, which is good. (Have to admit I knew nothing about the hubs at all until your comment. It's a big world though.) Thanks for asking permission as well. I have the feeling you may have just been able to use the image without my permission and I might never have known, so I appreciate that. I hope you have a great spring.

Hi again Karen,

I just received word from HP that they removed the image from their servers. It may still take some time before Google and the other search engines point to your image and not to my article.

Meanwhile, it may be a good idea to delete the comments on your blog that refer to that HP link, so that the link is not perpetuated.

Please get in touch with me through my "contact" link on HP if you have any further concerns. Should you contact me via that link, your email address will be known to me, only. I respect your privacy and will never reveal your email address to anyone. I'd love to have a conversation with you about your outstanding photography and observations.

Best regards,
Sherri
